The artist colony Franz-Jürgens-Strasse is part of the studio support programme of the city of Düsseldorf. The illustrated book Künstler Tatorte portrays the artists who live and work in this colony and visually captures their studios. The historian Dr Stefanie Schäfers, author of Vom Werkbund zum Vierjahresplan, examines the history of the colony, which was founded by the National Socialists, and Carl Friedrich Schroer addresses the issue of the artists’ support programme of Düsseldorf.
The book, published by Edition Braus, Heidelberg, and supplemented by a chronology of all the residents who have lived there, was presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2008. The editors – Corina Gertz, Annette Leyener and Kris Scholz – live in the artist colony.
